Personal Update
The Walensee swim was a success! We had to reschedule once due to weather, but the 2nd time was a charm. Our team of 4 finished the 16KM (10 mile) swim in times ranging from 5-6 hours.
My biggest takeaway from this experience was how incredibly small it made me feel swimming the length of this lake while looking up over a vertical mile to the summits of the Churfirsten range and down into clear water that reached 150 meters below me. It was humbling and surreal!
My next adventure is a September Swimrun to swim 3 beautiful Swiss lakes (Sihlsee, Wägitalersee and Klöntalersee), crossing two passes in between them and camping out overnight. And I’m already thinking through the logistics of a combined swim and ski for winter … just have to find a lake next to skiable terrain and complete the project before the lake freezes for the winter!
Having fun with the longest swim I'd ever attempted!
