After weeks of staring at my watch and seeing frustrating times at the track, I finally started to see quantitative improvements this week–and it feels good! My 800 times are down from the mid 3:50s in early January to 3:15 – still 20 seconds off from my peak 8 years ago, but 40 seconds better than 7 weeks ago. Plus, finishing a half marathon feels like less of a death march now.
I’m very happy I pushed through the many slow sessions in January to reach this point. My first race this year is the Zürich Marathon in early April, with ultra marathons on the schedule in June and July. Until then, a mix of focused training and spontaneous adventure continues!
This upcoming week I’m traveling to Malawi in Africa to volunteer with the Face-to-Face Project
, and then I go to Cape Town, South Africa on a charity coaching and book giveaway tour
. An exciting few weeks in Africa awaits! I’ll be sharing updates, photos and videos on my social media channels
, so feel free to follow along.
